Make Believe

So, it seems my daughter currently has a slight obsession with being a Disney Princess. She dresses up like them (just this morning she has already been Aurora, Belle, Cinderella & the Fairy Godmother), reads their books, plays with their figurines, would like to watch their movies 24/7 if possible(she got spoiled while she was sick & is now going through withdrawals since I won't let her watch her movies everyday), & goes dancing & singing through the house re-enacting parts of their movies. While taking baths she scrubs the faucet & sings, "Cinderella, due-dee-due-dee-due, Cinderella" over and over again. She takes her little purse & goes skipping through the house swinging it around, while singing, pretending she's Belle in the opening scene of Beauty and the Beast. She's even starting to rub off on me, earlier today while vacuuming I found myself singing "Once upon a Dream". Really!?!

Anyways, last night while getting ready to take Gavin & Micah home, the kids were watching Beauty & the Beast. Right before we had to leave, I had to change Micah's diaper(he has a knack for pooping whenever we need to leave the house) & we were coming up to the ballroom dancing scene, when...
Gavin: "Can Haley wear her Belle dress."
Me: "Sure."
Gavin: "Can I be Beast"
Me: "Okay."
Gavin: "Do you have Beast clothes for me?"
Me: in my head I'm thinking "crap! no, just princess dresses!" but then I realized I had some blue & yellow play silks that we could tie on to dress him like Beast. "Yes! I have the perfect outfit for you Gavin."

So, we paused the movie, ran back to the play room, got dressed up & went out for the dance scene. Now I must note, Gavin is usually so NOT into dancing with Haley & I was totally surprised that this was his idea, which he took very seriously. He paid very close attention to the movie trying hard to copy what was going on in the movie, they start dancing & then he realized they were supposed to eat dinner first, so he stopped, pretended to eat & then started dancing with Haley again. He even tried to follow some of the dance moves, so cute! Through it all, Haley was just over the moon that Gavin was dancing with her, so she couldn't stop smiling & dancing.

Best of all, we taped it on the camera! Be prepared for cuteness when you click on this link.

It was by far one of my favorite Mommy moments ever! After it was done, we had to postpone leaving so Gavin could finish out the movie, fighting with Gaston(played by Jon) & then turning into the prince.
